چکیده
Abstract Background Traumatic pneumothorax (PTx) is common in chest trauma. Its incidence ranges between 10 and 28%. Chest X-ray (CXR) the traditional imaging for potential traumatic PTx, while CT considered gold standard diagnostic tool. However, it requires that patient to be transferred from Emergency Department (ED) with its resuscitative facilities. US (E-FAST) has emerged as a sensitive tool can used on bedside basis much higher sensitivity than CXR. The objective of this study was compare accuracy usefulness diagnosis well ability quantify size. This prospective clinical included two hundred patients who have been admitted ED. inclusion criteria any Exclusion surgical emphysema, life threatening did not undergo chest. Results Forty-seven hemithoraces were proved positive PTx by chest, forty-five out those 47 confirmed US. 95.74% detection PTx. No false-positive cases diagnosed. All diagnosed scan making specificity 100%. Conclusions useful rapid quantification at It avoids delay transportation critically ill perform

Diagnosis of Pneumothorax by Focused Assessment Sonography of Trauma(eFAST) and CT scan in Chest Trauma: Comparison of diagnostic accuracy
Abstract Aims and objectives: Pneumothorax is a common finding after trauma and with a wide range of clinical manifestations, from a concealed pneumothorax detectable only by a CT scan accidentally, to a potentially fatal tension pneumothorax. Pneumothorax can gradually progress to tension pneumothorax and become an emergency, consequently, a timely diagnosis is essential. Most traumatic patie...
متن کاملA prospective comparison of supine chest radiography and bedside ultrasound for the diagnosis of traumatic pneumothorax.
BACKGROUND Supine anteroposterior (AP) chest radiography may not detect the presence of a small or medium pneumothorax (PTX) in trauma patients. OBJECTIVES To compare the sensitivity and specificity of bedside ultrasound (US) in the emergency department (ED) with supine portable AP chest radiography for the detection of PTX in trauma patients, and to determine whether US can grade the size of...
متن کاملComparing the Diagnostic Power of Chest CT Scan and RT-PCR in Diagnosis of COVID-19
Background and purpose: Proper diagnosis of patients with COVID-19 is one of the challenges in medical centers. RT-PCR is the standard and reference test in diagnosis of patients with COVID-19. This study aimed at accelerating the correct diagnosis of COVID-19 and the diagnostic power of chest CT scan and RT-PCR. Materials and methods: This study was performed in 569 patients with COVID-19 adm...

15 صفحه اولAnteroposterior chest radiograph vs. chest CT scan in early detection of pneumothorax in trauma patients
Pneumothorax is a common complication following blunt chest wall trauma. In these patients, because of the restrictions regarding immobilization of the cervical spine, Anteroposterior (AP) chest radiograph is usually the most feasible initial study which is not as sensitive as the erect chest X-ray or CT chest for detection of a pneumothorax. We will present 3 case reports which serve for bette...
